There are times when I want to do someone real damage. I do not, nor have I ever had a Pay-Pal account. I have managed to get by without one.
Yet every once in a while I get an email telling me I must verify my account. I write back and tell them I do not have an account. Some smarmy bastard then writes and says, “Hello It it my job to help you with your query and it will give me the greatest pleasure to do that here today”. Then they go on to explain how I should go about verifying my account.
It is at this stage I throw my teddy out of the pram and explain in no uncertain terms, with more expletives than most people know, why I hate them. We bat back and forth for a weeks or so and then they piss off for a couple of months.
They are back now with a new weapon. Obviously they dont want my usual tirade so they sent this latest email from a noreply@paypal.com address. How dumb is that?! I am still going to throw my teddy out of the pram using the last email addy I have.
If they dont want to hear my tirade all they have to do is leave me alone. It aint rocket science!

PayPal only exist to aide and abet the thieves on ebay.
You do realise it isn't Paypal sending these, just some half-assed scammer?
Are you sure the postings come from Paypal. I am a member of Paypal and they are always addressed to MY name and warn me if they are not they could well be phishing
Thanks brian I hadnt thought of that it is a scam. Very noticable when you pay attention to the spelling.
Thanks matt.
It could be a scam as Paypal (to my knowledge and I have a business account with them) do not send out 'verify your account'emails. Rings warning bells here - right up there with your secret banker yob - same thing.
Bundle those emails all up and ship to the 'real' Paypal would be my suggestion.
Yes, it is a monster org fueled by ebay however thanks to PP we can send funds to a backpacking couple as they traipse from country to country or every once in a while I can fling some GBP's to an artist friend who could use petrol money.
Especially as the Gift Giving Season is upon us and the UK Postal has decided to go 'frankly' postal on you. I only wish my UK friends would get an account so I could ship them GBPs this year for the kids.
Blessings to all Boaters
Definitely a spam. I get these all the time - trying to get you to enter your login details so they can hack your account. You should forward them to spoof@paypal.com - no need to write anything. I like to think this goes some way to tracking down the scammers, but who knows.
Brain and Diana on Harnser are right. PayPal always address you by name personally so you know it is not phishing.
By responding to any phising email the spammers can sell your email at a higher price to other spammers because they know there's somone there who might reply.
