Ansty again

In total I removed 5 bin liners of rubbish from Ansty. However I simply refused to remove this.

DSCF1368That, peeps, is a full size bath.

My boat roof looks bad enough as it is with wood coal and bicycles on it but with 11 bin liners full of rubbish on it I looked like a right pikey.

Halfie, I'm very disappointed that you aren't dedicated enough to single-handedly cleaning up the entire canal system that you would let a bath tub stop you.

Of course you are kidding 'Halfie' doesn't live on this boat.

You're right in saying your words 'have no more importance than the writing on a toilet wall'. That's just where I'd expect to see offensive terms like 'pikey'.

Ah, now had you thought about it you could have filled the bath with all the rubbish and floated it down the canal to the waste disposal and then used it as a tender afterwards very environmentally friendly

Dear Carrie

Once again you are trying to bring fascist idiology in to this. I don't think like you. I will never think like you. I would like to see things from your point of view but I cant get my head that far up my arse.

Understand this I AM a pikey and I do not find it one bit offensive.

Go bang your drum somewhere else and stop trying to impose your la-la land on me. YOU offend me.

Is one referring to one's self as a gypsy or vagrant as in the dictionary under Pikey

Pikey apart... when did you start co-habiting with Halfie then and does Jan know? LOL

Allan said...

Who is Halfie? LOL

Well, you use the word 'pikey' in a context that suggests you mean it as an insult, and then claim you are one? And then turn on anyone who dares question this?

Trust me, you really come across as worthy of tying up in a plastic bag and putting in one of your little red bins. Take your own head out of your own arse, and look at how others see you - it's not what you think of yourself, that's for sure.

Trust me, if I see Milly M coming near my boat I'm staying well out of the way - and that'll be the only reason to look at this blog again.

Not wanting to get particulary involved but with a Romani brother in law I have been thinking about this term and on this website under contemporary usage it says:
"Pikey is one of the negative words associated with gypsies: people who fight and steal equals 'pikeys'"
but it also says :
"It may also refer to a member who has been cast out of the family. If a member of the family is hot headed or a thief or a trouble maker or brings misfortune on the family"

and goes on to say:
"Pikey's most common contemporary use is not as a term for the Gypsy ethnic group, but as a catch-all phrase to refer to people, of any ethnic group, who travel around with no fixed abode."
and again:
"Among English Romani Gypsies the term pikey refers to a Traveller that is not Romani"

Maffi may want to call himself a pikey 'someone who looks like they are cast of society' and by the looks of some of the comments on this blog that would be true wouldn't it - cast out by those who think he is being derogatory.

Pikey may be derogatory but some people have been cast out of society, some people aren't Romani. Maybe Maffi IS a Romani and in that case is it derogatory or just fact of semantics?

Fortunatley people are different and over time we are learning about different cultures, integration, and the variety and fun of humanity. What a shame being humane about it isn't such an easy back to break. I find it interesting that Maffi is considered to be rude by people who say he is 'worthy of tying up in a plastic bag and putting in a red bin' I am not sure that mutual hatred is a way to change society, nor that anyone is worthy of such directed hate.
Maffi directs his hate at himself; others direct it at him.

I think it is an interesting view on tolerance when neither party is tolerant and just put eachother down instead of standing in love to teach, learn, mould and advance.

Thank you Michele your comments are most appreciated. I do find it hard to believe that Carrie and Steve chose to comment on my use of one word rather than what I am doing on my trip Which is currently up to 17 bags and one TV!

Steve, you are a nazi. The problem is with you PC people you cant see the wood for the trees. It's your way or nothing. How dare you come here and preach to me how to behave.

If I don't like what a writer writes I don't read what he writes. Now is that too difficult to understand.

On here I am the boss and I find you and your social politics offensive. Forget me looking in the mirror you try it.

I dont pretend to be other than what you see.

Of course I am wrong I don't think like you do.

You are entitled to your opinion and so am I.

Read what you said.
