Prompted by a blog reader I find today that Dai, the skipper of Jandai has had a heart attack whilst out walking the dog. He passed away on Monday last week. I moored near Jandai at Braunston last year and regret making no more than a passing ‘hello’ as they walked Foxxie Dog past my boat. My condolences to Jan and her family.

Maffi - this has come as a bit of a shock to us. We came up the Hatton flight with them just befor Xmas, followed them into Birmingham a few days later and moored opposite them over Xmas and New Year in the city centre. Often had chats as we passed on the towpath as boaters are apt to do. We parted with a "See you on the Shroppie" as they were going to spend a few days at Alvechurch. My condolences to Jan and families.

Thanx for making us aware of this via your blog Maffi. We made their acquaintance when we moored with them at Norton Junction before Christmas. Dia always seemed to be out on long walks with Foxxie who always trotted along right beside him. It is how we all would like to leave this world, suddenly, but such a shock for the person who is left behind.
