Some arsehole has just come speeding past the 14 day moorings at Shipton. These official CRT moorings are, through no fault of ours, on a soft bank and the bank is a long curve making mooring difficult at best. It is raining this morning and the top is very soggy so we boaters are not happy to go out and re-tie boats because of some inconsiderate fecking Muppets that cannot follow simple rules! If you want to go fast get a fecking bus!

I swear the next boat to come speeding by is going to get a visit from the boys!

Hi Maffi,
I have just started our blog and would be honoured to have it listed on yours. Have been reading your blog for a couple of months - went back to start at the beginning. Interesting reading - not least because the places you mention lots are familiar to me - I was born in Headington, my mum was posted to RAF Kidlington (now Oxford Airport as you know) as a WAAF in WWII, met my dad at Weston on the Green, He was posted to Uppper Heyford, and when David and I came from NZ to do our 'silver gap' 4 years, we lived in Oxon and I worked at Elsevier, next to the airport. We've hired from Oxfordshire Narrowboats a few times over the years but have only come as far south as Thrupp.
Just taken over our boat (secondhand) and coming to grips with the differences between it and a hireboat (more complex electrics, more responsive in the steering, quieter motor, ...). Have been very speedy so far, not: we've only travelled 14 miles in 7 days, so have totally slowed down and de-stressed.
Our blog is
Cheers, Marilyn & David
