The Middle East

It matters not what you think about the situation in Israel/Gaza, those people are incapable of understanding the inhumanity of their situation. A mans life is worth nothing, a child’s life is worth even less. Make no mistake about it if Palestinians had sophisticated weaponry they would be raining death and destruction down on Israel in unparalleled attacks.

The solution can only come from one of two places Israel/Gaza or Iran!

It has been proven that talking does not work. Whatever each side says they will not stick to it. If normal medicine fails to bring about a cure then the cancer must be irradiated.

I fear Iran will almost certainly drop their nuke, when they get one, right in the middle of Israel. We in the west, of course, will retaliate by frying Mecca.

There can be no other response to such a major attack on an American friend.

Ok, I'll ask, why Mecca?

Would not a city in Iran be more rational (I won't say 'better')?

Islam as an entity would support the annihilation of the Jews the only response would be Mecca in Haj.

Maffi,

I know, I just know, that you do not really believe that.

If someone passes too fast and pulls your pins you don't chase after them, wait till they have moored and pull theirs. Nuking Mecca would be more serious than passing recklessly. More serious even than pulling pins - or leaving dog mess behind.

Personal view is that the Israelis and Palestinians fully deserve one another and have I little (or even no)sympathy with either. Both sides seem to believe that the only way forward is through violence (much as the situation in Northern Ireland used to be) and until they BOTH accept that it will solve nothing the killing will continue.

I'm interested as to why you think Iran will use a nuclear weapon? If I was Iranian and a nearby country who thinks nothing of flying sorties into their neighbour's countries and bombing them and was also illegally nuclear armed (how did they get their warheads??) I think I might want to take out some similar (although ultimately pointless)'insurance'. You also have to ask how many countries Iran has actually attacked in the last 3 decades, they were attacked by Iraq (which we supported) and that has pretty much continued to this day, but who else?

C&R Iran has said the total annihilation of the Jews is their goal.

Frank I do believe that.

Maffi,

This is going to irritate you - probably quite a lot.

I know this because it irritates me when god botherer's come to the door and tell me what I believe ("it doesn't matter if you believe in God - God believes in you" and such rubbish).

Nevertheless, here goes - you really don't believe in killing millions of deluded but basically innocent people for the wrongs of their unelected leaders.

I think you need to source where Iran said they wanted to annihilate the JEWS, what they have said is that ISRAEL should not exist, a subtle but significant difference. No-one with any intelligence would suggest trying to eliminate the Jews any more that anyone with any intelligence would suggest trying to eliminate Muslims, they are both here to stay.

Since it is Israel's policy that Palestine should no longer exist where lies the difference? Israel doesn't want Palestine to exist and Iran doesn't want Israel to exist, neither has said that the way to do it was to drop nuclear devices on them. If I wanted to play the devil's advocate I could suggest that Israel is seeking the total annihilation of Palestinians (and not making a bad job of it!), but that wont take the discussion any further forward until each side tire of killing each other (which doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon).

You might be right John but I doubt it.
