I know its a SCAM

I find these rather amusing. I would be tempted to be a tad scared if it wasn’t for the LAGOS Office address:-

15A Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, London,England

Read the red section in the middle including the bit that says:-

No body is above the law and the law is not a respecter of anybody.

and further down it says:-

and our authority is irrevocable so don’t dare dispute our instruction, just act as instructed.

I wouldn’t take a blind bit of notice if it was genuinely from the FBI

Read on its very funny. Don’t forget the list of courts at the end.

The Jolly Boatman

Yet more new managers in this canalside pub. These two guys at least are boaters and will understand the waterway ethos. The dining room is still the dining room(top and second pic). The main bar is now back to being a place to have a drink (third pic). The old boaters bar is also a place to have a quiet drink with some of the old pews back (bottom pic) but I don’t think the old boaters bar will be reinstalled. We have eaten in there twice last week. The food was good but I will reserve judgement until the new chef arrives and finds his feet. What I do find surprising is that staff from the Steve and Jo days are still there despite the seemingly ever changing management.DSCF1838DSCF1837DSCF1834DSCF1836

From the BBC:-

One of three narrow boats, which were destroyed by a fire on the Trent and Mersey Canal in Staffordshire, had been used to sail around the world.

I would hardly call two trips, one to the Med and one down the inland waterway of eastern  America ‘around the world’. Though no mean achievement I think the world is bigger than that.

Mr Darlington, author of Narrow Dog to Carcassonne and Narrow Dog to Indian River, was not on board the boat when the fire started.

He said: "The boat has been around the Mediterranean (not strictly true) and the Atlantic Ocean (did it) and the Gulf of Mexico (mmm) and survived.

"And then it's burnt out on its mooring while we are having dinner at home."

The last line says a lot. They were at home having dinner. I suppose they will be at home having dinner again tonight, they can do that you see because Phyllis May was not their home. Had the live-a-board whose boat was also burned out been ‘at home’ having dinner he might not have lost everything he owned.

Yes it is sad that the Phyllis May was lost but not so sad as the other boat that was someone’s only home.

Christmas Decorations

Don't ya just love the decorations this time of year

The Birthday Girl

It can not have gone unnoticed that Saturday was the girls birthday. The day started with the grand opening ceremony.DSCF1879 Some gave her gifts to encourage her artistic side.DSCF1889 Some gave her gifts to encourage her reflective side.DSCF1891 Some gave her gifts to encourage her . . . other side. Liberty No 4

Last weekend I varnished some panels for Bones and left them out to dry. Some time later while I was inside the boat I heard the wood rattle. Some dog owner had let their dog walk across the largest of the panels. Fortunately it was the inside that was facing up.

It's a blooming liberty Carl, that’s what it is a blooming liberty!

Lunch at the BOAT INN

Bones has been off poorly this week so I took her off to the local for lunch.

Lunch was simple, just a bowl of soup. Soup of the day on Tuesday was beetroot soup. I was never a fan of beetroot, and am still not. Nothing to do with the soup.

Money Shot

When I walk the dogs sometimes I take the camera sometimes I forget. On those days I forget I miss some very nice opportunities for a good picture. Today I remembered to take the camera and got a very nice picture from a short opportunity.

And then I got another. Same deer same place-ish. What I didn’t get was the doe behind the trees to the left.

These are the Thrupp Cottages that went up for sale recently. Only the two in the middle of the picture were to be sold and they went for about £170,000DSCF1860They were sold by . . .

Today one (on the right) is up for sale again. Now either the housing trade is picking up fast or someone didn’t realise how much work was involved in a Grade II listed building. I wonder?
