On dinning out

It was to be Sausages and mash last night but poor old Bones changed her mind and suggested we go to the Jolly Boatman instead. Well I was up for that.

When we arrived, on looking in the dinning room for a seat, we saw Dan Clacher and his wife sitting near the fire waiting for their dinner. We stopped for a chat and Dan asked us to join them which we did.

We had a good old chat about the progress of the books (Muddy Waters) and boat books in general. Then we got on to the topic of being a policeman, of which I know nothing, but Dan knows lots. Well Dan had us all in stitches.

Funniest of all was the two guys who had been arrested in Newbury wearing a Daisy the cow suit. Being as they were arrested in the suit they insisted, when bailed, on turning up to sign on every day, at the police station in the Daisy the cow suit; much to the pleasure of the BBC news crew.

You know Dan really should write a book. He is a great story teller. He would make a great after dinner speaker.

Thanks for a super evening Dan.
