On the OXFORD towpath

This tree stump can be found north of ISIS Lock. It is embedded with crown bottle tops and sports a fairly good crop of fungi.DSCF8374

Honey Fungus (Armillaria mellea). It is edible (the caps, the stems are tough) when young as long as they are cooked well. Antonio Carluccio loves them: http://www.antonio-carluccio.com/ It's been a good season this year and there are plenty of edible mushrooms to be had!
